Should I compare centrifuges by RPM or RCF?
RPM describes rotational speed; relative centrifugal force (RCF) accounts for both speed and rotor radius. Compare the listed speed and RCF for the rotor and centrifuge combination you plan to use, rather than selecting equipment by RPM alone.
When should I choose a refrigerated centrifuge?
Choose a refrigerated centrifuge when your samples require temperature control during separation. The Multifuge X4 Pro is ventilated, while the X4R Pro is refrigerated. Check the specific model and refrigeration selection before ordering.
How do I know which rotor fits my centrifuge?
Match your centrifuge model to the rotor’s stated equipment compatibility, then check tube type, dimensions, capacity, speed or RCF limits, and required buckets or adapters. For example, the TX-400 rotor page lists Sorvall ST16, SL16, and Sorvall Legend X1 among its compatible centrifuge series. Confirm the complete configuration before ordering; a matching tube volume alone does not establish compatibility.
Are rotors, buckets, and tube adapters included?
Included components depend on the product and configuration you select. The TX-400 rotor requires separate purchases of buckets and lids, with tube adapters also available separately. In contrast, Multifuge X4/X4R Pro Cell Culture packages include the centrifuge, rotor, ClickSeal biocontainment lids, and a set of four 15 mL and 50 mL conical tube adapters.
How can I check whether a replacement part is OEM and fits my centrifuge?
Check the product’s brand, catalog number, and stated equipment compatibility; ask McQueen to confirm any missing OEM or model-fit information before ordering. McQueen is an authorized Thermo Fisher Scientific distributor, but the correct replacement still depends on the specific part and centrifuge model.
